Before discovering textile design, I worked for the CNRS at the Laboratoire des Sciences de L'Habitat in the lighting department where I discovered the importance of light to enhance a space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, combining textiles and light was an obvious choice. Light is an extremely rich medium, allowing us to play with colors, shadows and textures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this article, I share with you some information to help you highlight your Laboratoire Textile lamp in your decor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is currently a very wide range of light bulbs available on the market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That's why they are not included with your lamp, so you can choose them yourself to better match your new light with your decor. Whether you want to create a relaxing atmosphere in your bedroom, or light up your reading corner, here is some practical information to help you make the right choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First of all, all Laboratoire Textile fixtures must be used with LED bulbs to avoid any risk of overheating. Unlike incandescent bulbs, which spend 95% of their energy in heat and only 5% to produce light, LEDs do not heat up (or very little). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, they consume 70% to 90% less energy and last longer (up to 15,000 hours).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Color temperature<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One factor to consider when choosing your light bulb is the color temperature. This will influence the color of your lamp, and by extension the general ambiance of your room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warm, neutral or cold, here's how to choose it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measured in Kelvin (K), the higher the measurement, the colder the color temperature and the more blue it is. At the opposite, the lower the measure, the warmer the light will be in a yellow-orange range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help you visualize:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A candle is between 1500\u00b0K and 2000\u00b0K.
Ampoule incandescente : environ 2 700\u00b0K.
Ampoule halog\u00e8ne : 2 800\u00b0K.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To create a warm atmosphere in the bedroom, living room or dining room, a shade between 2200\u00b0K and 3000\u00b0K will promote a relaxing atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The perception of colors remains subjective, that's why I invite you to experiment with several models to find the atmosphere that best suits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intensity of light<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The light intensity is the amount of light emitted by the bulb. This is measured in lumen. 400 lumen corresponds to a 40 watt bulb, 800 lumen to a 60 watt bulb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This information can be found on the packaging of all LED bulbs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also LED bulbs on the market with adjustable intensity and programmable colors. It's up to you to let your creativity speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, don't forget to return your bulbs to stores or facilities for safe recycling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
